When Iranian cinematography legend Amir Mokri saw Blue on Oct 9 on the 'Clint Eastwood Recording Sound Stage No 6' at the Warner Brothers Studios in Los Angeles, director Anthony D'Souza, a huge self-confessed and unabashed fan of Mokri's work played a little game with Mokri.

Anthony quietly let his precious film unfold for his favourite cinematographer and waited for him to recognize the sequence that Tony had shot as per instruction from Mokri in LA. Of course Mokri immediately recognized the sequence whose shots were similar from Bad Boys 2 which Mokri had photographed.

Says Anthony, ''Of course Amir recognized the shots immediately. I had seen the way actors Will Smith and Martin Lawrence zigzagged through windows and doors for a particular sequence in Bad Boys 2. I wanted to use those shots for a sequence between Sanjay Sir (Dutt) and Lara Dutta in Blue. I got in touch with Mokri and he instructed me and my cameraman on phone and email on how to go about doing the shots in a way that the camera seems to be hurling at the same speed as the characters. I think we got it right. Amir seemed to think so.''

Anthony isn't saying it, but Mokri liked Blue enough to be a part of his next film, the aerial actioner with Akshay Kumar and John Abraham.

Though Anthony isn't telling, the news is Mokri would do the camerawork for that film.

'Bhool Bhulaiya' is the latest flick of Mohanlal to be remade in B-Town.

Now the actor can take the credit for being the protagonist of a feature film that has set a record by completing its whole production work in just 12 hours.

In this Malayalam movie titled as 'Bhagavan', Mohanlal is playing the role of a doctor.

The story revolves around a commando operation in the hospital where the lead character works.

The action film started the shooting at 7 am and wrapped it up at 7 pm.

Prashant is making his debut as a director with 'Bhagavan' in which to achieve the difficult task to complete the shooting within the stipulated time six cameras were used simultaneously.

The film will hit the big screens on January 23.

Grapevine has it that the destination of Kareena’s holiday would be Switzerland, and she is more than excited to usher the New Year in the cold winters of the Alps with none other than beau Saif, who is believed to be joining her.

Actress Chitrangada Singh was much in news lately for being finalized opposite Aamir Khan for ‘Delhi Belly’. She created all the more news when she walked out of ‘Delhi Belly’ starring Aamir Khan due to creative differences with the makers of the film.

Tamil actress Flora Saini, arrested in Chennai earlier this week for allegedly forging documents to travel abroad, was a struggling actress in Bollywood before she shifted her base to south India.
The US Consulate in Chennai handed over Flora alias Asha Saini, 29, and her assistant Sri Latha, 29, to the police Tuesday when documents the two women submitted for visas were found to be forged.It is not yet known why Saini wanted to go to the US. Latha is said to have posed as Saini's make-up woman.Five years ago, Saini was also denied a visa by the British consulate in Mumbai to go to London for shooting of a movie "Kabhi Subah, Kabhi Shyam", produced by Gujarati actress Ragini.

And Imtiaz Ali of “Jab We Met” fame will direct them in another Pepsi advertisement.

“There’s nothing intriguing about it. It’s an ad to be directed by Imtiaz Ali for Pepsi. Earlier, Deepika and I acted in an ad with Shah Rukh Khan for the same brand. Now it’s just the two of us, and that should be fun. But what I really want to do is a full-length feature film with Imtiaz,” Ranbir told IANS.

Ranbir debuted with Sonam Kapoor in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Saawariya”. Although the film didn’t do well at the box office, Ranbir is inundated with offers. He is doing Yash Raj Films’ “Bachna Ae Haseenon” and Rajkumar Santoshi has signed him for his forthcoming romantic film.

Sadly, just after cementing their relationship during the long outdoor spell of “Bachna Ae Haseenon” in Australia, Deepika, who had the privilege of working with Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh in her very first film “Om Shanti Om”, had to leave for a long shooting schedule for Nikhil Advani’s “Chandni Chowk To China”.

Hollywood studio Warner Bros is co-producing the action thriller with Ramesh Sippy. Akshay Kumar features as the male lead.

Deepika returned to India this week and is all set to start filming the ad with Ranbir. Deepika will team up with Saif Ali Khan later this year. Saif will produce the movie to be directed by Imtiaz Ali.

Katrina Kaif, who’s paired with Ranbir Kapoor in Raj Kumar Santoshi’s “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani”, seems to be getting into the let’s-get-young mode.

She has now been signed to star opposite Neil Nitin Mukesh in Yash Raj banner’s next venture to be directed by Kabir Khan and the hero says they will make a good couple on screen.

“Kabir made a very unusual film ‘Kabul Express’ for Yash Raj earlier. This time he’s going all-out to make a commercial film. I think Katrina and I will make a striking pair,” Neil told IANS.

All her earlier films have been primarily with the 40-plus Salman Khan, Govinda and Akshay Kumar. Now she’s finally working with co-stars nearer her own age.

“I wouldn’t know about that. My bonding so far has been with John. I really get along with him. He’s so funny and entertaining. Somehow, he reminds me of Dharamji (Dharmendra) with whom I did my first film ‘Johnny Gaddar’. The same towering personality, physique and a heart of gold,” said Neil.

Let’s hope the initial camaraderie lasts through the film. Considering what happened to John’s friendship with Arshad Warsi during Khan’s “Kabul Express” one wonders if Neil would be singing the same tune by the time he and John finish shooting together.

There were rumours that Preity was shooting for Deepa Mehta’s film in Toronto and boyfriend Ness too had accompanied her to spend time with her. Esha is now going back to a childhood passion. "I used to learn Russian ballet as a child. I think I'll pursue that again, and practice my Odissi dancing while I wait for good roles to come my way. Can you believe I've been around here for 5 ½ years! Have I changed? Yes! I used to be vulnerable and naïve. Now I'm a tough nut to crack. Let's see who finally cracks this nut," she laughs heartily.

So will Esha's guy be from outside the industry? "Why?" she shoots back. "My father is from the film industry. And he's the nicest guy I've ever met. So why not an industry guy for me? You never know."

Esha returned to Mumbai from Tirupati on the evening of her birthday. "For a quiet dinner with just close family and friends. That's the way I like it. I want to be alone with just the people who matter to me. I'm now getting settled in my space."

Says Aparna, "For Gulel I really want Abhishek and I know Abhishek wants to do the role. He has said yes. In fact, earlier on he had even allotted dates when the late Ismail Merchant's nephew Naeem wanted to make it. Abhishek told Naeem that if Aparna Sen is doing Gulel he'd do it. Then Ismail died and the project fell apart. But I'm ready to make Gulel with Abhishek as soon as he gives the dates."

Abhishek says he had an affinity to Bengal and Bengalis. "At the moment, there're lots of films under consideration. I'm on the verge of completing Laaga Chunari Mein Daag . That was great fun. I've known the director Pradeep Sarkar from before. We've done a couple of ads before. It was a very sweet unit. They had already shot for 8-9 months before I joined them. But I immediately felt at home. And yes, there were lots of Bengalis including my mom, the director and Rani who's a good friend, on the sets. I do love working with Bengalis. I've worked in two Bengali films with Ritu-da (Rituparno Ghosh) in Antar Mahal and in a film called Desh directed by Raja Sen where I played my own mom's son. It would be delightful to work with Aparna Sen."

Rakeysh Mehra comes full circle on 'Dilli 6'

It is like coming back to the place you started from. Filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is apparently close to finalizing the male lead for his movie Dilli 6 .

Even though one and a half years have gone past since his last release Rang De Basanti , Mehra has not yet begun shooting his semi-autobiographical film Dilli 6 , which is set in Chandi Chowk area (with pincode 6) where Mehra grew up.

So much shuffling in the cast has happened that at one point it began to seem doubtful if the movie would ever be made.

Abhishek Bachchan was Mehra’s first choice to play the male lead in ‘Dilli 6’. He was then replaced with Hrithik Roshan , who expressed interest in the project but demanded certain changes in the script. Hrithik, too, was dropped and in his place Siddharth was roped in. But Mehra’s search was still far from over. Siddharth opted out of the project for reasons better known to him. Thereafter, Mehra reportedly considered Ranbir Kapoor but dropped the idea because he wanted a mature looking actor for the role.

Now, if the latest buzz is to be believed, Mehra has once again approached Abhishek Bachchan.

While Abhi has still not officially signed the film, sources say he is interested in the project and there is a strong chance that he would do the film.

'Om Shanti Om' hysteria builds up in Germany

Although more than a month remains for Shah Rukh Khan’s movie Om Shanti Om to hit the theatres, hysteria is building over the film in Germany.

Shah Rukh Khan has a substantially large fan base in Germany, even though the fans there may not understand a word of Hindi. The dubbed version of his home production Main Hoon Na was very well received in Germany.

And now, SRK fans in Germany are eagerly awaiting ‘Om Shanti Om’. As many as ten thousand fans have reportedly sent a petition to the director of the Berlin Film Festival, requesting the screening of ‘OSO’ in the next fest.

A media report quotes the movie’s director Farah Khan as saying that the movie’s official website has got at least two lakh hits and posts from Germany, France, Russia, Austria and Poland.

Responding to the demand, decision has already been taken to release ‘OSO’ in Germany alongside its worldwide release on November 9. So there won’t be any need to screen the film at Berlin Film Fest because the fest comes in February 2008.

On the other hand, Farah Khan has reportedly asked the film’s distributors, Eros International, to release the movie in Russia as well to tap a wider market.

Apart from this, a German magazine called Rapid Eye is coming up with a book on the making of ‘OSO’, media reports say.

‘Om Shanti Om’ is set in two time periods – 1970s and year 2007. The movie has SRK playing a junior artist in 1977 who falls in love with a famous heroine. But their love remains unfulfilled. The second part of the film shows SRK reincarnated as a superstar in 2007.

‘OSO’ introduces newcomer Deepika Padukone as SRK’s heroine.

Mona Chopra Nude MMS Controversy !

A two minute MMS clip, which allegedly shows upcoming actress Mona Chopra undressing, has created a controversy in the Mumbai film world.

Chopra says she has not seen the MMS.

The clip allegedly shows a woman taking off her clothes as she argues on the phone with someone from the production unit over the choice of outfits she is required to wear.

Chopra, who made her debut in Timepass, is known for her dare-bare poses and quotable quotes.

Sex-comedy film Naughty Boy, which shows her being courted by father-son duo Rahul Roy and Hitesh, is due for release soon.

Calling it a serious breach of her privacy, Chopra said she plans to take legal advice from her lawyer.

Interestingly, Chopra is reportedly doing a nude scene in Red Swastika, which has been directed by Vinod Pande of Sins fame.

The upcoming edition of the magazine will feature topnotch Bollywood stars in the unique ‘concept’ photoshoots in which photo sessions had a theme each.

DEVDAS
The magazine recreates the magic of Devdas in its next edition. No, it is not Shah Rukh Khan who poses as the tragic hero. Rather, it is Kunal Kapoor playing Devdas for the mag. Amisha Patel , dressed in a white saree (with red border), poses as Paro and Urmila Matondkar (in a dazzling green, embroidered outfit) poses as Chandramukhi.
“I had suggested them to turn Devdaas into a Punjabi and make him wear a turban. But my suggestion was turned down,” a broadly smiling Kunal told a news channel.

KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI
Another theme of the photoshoot was Karan Johar’s movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai .
Shamita Shetty posed in a new tomboyish avatar as Kajol. Amrita Arora poses as Rani Mukherjee. And guess who plays SRK’s part – Dino Morea .

The idea of this concept probably came from Karan Johar , who is the guest editor of the magazine and also the film’s director. The costumes for the photoshoots were designed by Manish Malhotra .

Film awards announced; Rajini, Kamal chosen best actors

CHENNAI: Actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have been chosen for a Tamil Nadu State Film Award for 2005 and 2006.

While Rajini won the best actor award for his performance in ‘Chandramukhi,’ Kamal won the honour for ‘Vettaiyadu Vilaiyadu’.

Actor Jyothika, who portrayed the role of a split personality in ‘Chandramukhi,’ was adjudged the best actress for 2005, and Priya Mani won the award for 2006 for her acclaimed portrayal of a lively rural girl in ‘Paruthi Veeran’.

‘Chandramukhi’ won the first prize in the best film category for 2005, while ‘Veyil’ was adjudged the best film for 2006.

Actors Vijay (‘Thirupachi’), Surya (‘Gajini’), Meera Jasmine (‘Kasthuri Maan’), Karthi (‘Paruthi Veeran’), Fakru and Sandhya (‘Dishyum’) won special awards. The awardees were selected by a committee headed by former Supreme Court judge S. Mohan.

RGV Ki Aag pulled off some theatres

It's not just a dud for Ram Gopal Varma but one of the biggest flops of recent times. Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag is now being pulled off theaters.

"I will go down in the history of cinema anyhow. If the film clicks with the audiences then I will be the man who remade Sholay and if it doesn't then I will be the man who will ruin Sholay," said Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma.

Hearing this, one can say, that Ramu was prepared to give a flop with his latest film.

In Sholay, Gabbar had asked Kaalia: "Kitne aadmi the". After a string of flops Ramu could well ask: "Kitne flops the."

But the filmmaker has broken one record. He made the most disastrous film of the year and one of the biggest flops in recent history.

"This film is the biggest flop. Films like Razia Sultan and Umrao Jaan have been flops over the years, but this beats them all. It didn't even have a decent starting," said Trade analyst Amod Mehra.

Now, since Ram Gopal Verma Ki Aag is making no money, it is being taken off the screens.

"I don't know what to say about the film. It's just been disastrous. We can't go beyond this week because the auditoriums are literally vacant," said Rakesh Sharma, GM, Cinemax, Sion.

In the coming days two more Ramu films hit the screen, his horror flick Darling and the sequel to Sarkar.

Hopefully the man who gave Hindi cinema films like Satya, Company and Sarkar will get it right at the box office this time.

Shahid-Kareena together forever

Even though they may not have too many films in hand, nothing seems to deter the Shahid-Kareena jodi, including the recent break up rumours. They are more than happy to live up to their mast status and be patient for their almost dormant filmi career to kickstart.

"It has become like a national crisis that Shahid and Kareena have to have on-screen chemistry. They will take us to gallows otherwise," said Bebo.

'Modesty thy name could never be Kareena', but perhaps we can excuse the overstatement. Much has been said about the lack of on-screen chemistry between Bebo and her boyfriend Shahid Kapur, but of course the question is does he still retain the boyfriend status?

As the rumour mills rumble just about a month before the release of their new film, Jab We Met, one wonders whether their 'so called' split is another publicity stunt. But during the shooting of the film, they both seemed optimistic not just about the film but for each other as well.

"We have done four films together out of which some were good some were bad. I think an actor shouldn't be blamed for films they do because ultimately lot of things don't turn up the way it has been told to an actor. I think we have not been given an opportunity to work in a great script," Kareena stated.

The often joined at the hip couple relive a simple 'boy meets girl' story in Imitiaz Ali's latest film Jab We Met. Though their career graph may not have been all that smooth, it doesn't seem to worry either of them.

Shahid,who has signed two films with UTV could not have asked for more. "I think UTV is a fantastic production house. I am very impressed with the kind of cinema they are making," said Shahid.

Kareena sounds very optimistic about her future. "I have been shooting for two films simultaneously. Imtiaz's film is over and I am working on Yash Raj Film's Tushan which has Saif and Akshay in it. I am really excited about it. It is going to release next year."

Kamal Haasan feels good as 'Dasavatharam' crosses legal hurdle!

It is feel good time again for Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan , according to the grapevine from Kollywood.

Why not? The legal cloud that had engulfed his latest film, Dasavatharam has lifted much to the relief of the versatile actor.

‘Dasavatharam’ ran into legal trouble when one Senthil Kumar filed a petition in the Madras High Court charging Kamal with plagiarism.

Senthil's argument was that ‘Dasavatharam’ was based on his story, which he had handed over to Kamal. The superstar had promised money and assistant director's post in return, Senthil argued.

Kamal's counsel however, rejected the plagiarism charge and said Kamal himself had written the story of ‘Dasavatharam’.

The High Court subsequently dismissed the petition.

Now that the legal hurdle has been removed, ‘Dasavatharam’ shooting will slip into the fast track, according to the buzz from Tamil film world.

The film has Kamal essaying ten roles - a world record. It has Asin , Mallika Sherawat and Jaya Prada among the heroines. Music has been composed by the reigning rage of Bollywood, Himesh Reshamiyya .

Preity Zinta impressed by Big B's oratory

The actress is pretty impressed by the superstar’s oratory skills in Rituparno Ghosh’s movie ‘The Last Lear’.

It is not that Preity Zinta has not worked with Amitabh Bachchan before. But never has she done a movie in which she could observe and appreciate Big B’s command over English language.

In The Last Lear Mr. Bachchan plays an ageing Shakespearean actor. Most of his dialogues have Shakespearean poetry.

Even though Preity has worked in sync sound films before (where dialogues are recorded live during the shoot), she still found it difficult dubbing for ‘The Last Lear’. But it was Big B’s oratory that bowled her over.

“Dubbing for my first English film with lengthy lines was tough. To top it all, there’s Mr Bachchan with his booming baritone. What an orator he is,” Preity is quoted as saying in a media report.

‘The Last Lear’ has Preity playing an actress. She will be seen in a very non-glamourous avatar in the film.

The movie also stars Arjun Rampal , Divya Dutta and Shefali Shah.

‘The Last Lear’ is set to premiere at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival on September 9.

Jump Games has announced a two-year exclusive worldwide contract with actor Bipasha Basu to create and distribute a series of mobile game titles based on her.
The first of the series, 'Bipasha Basu Jet Ski Champ', will soon launch on all leading networks, the company said.

The game will see Bips, as she is fondly called, in the role of a master Jet Ski rider, challenging world greats on some of the most happening Ski circuits across the globe.
What's more, the actor's fans will be able to play out her character in the game.

Jump said there are two more titles in the pipeline; one a casual title based on the urban sport of bowling, and the other with Bips in a Star Wars-esque avatar of sci-fi princess battling it out against galactic enemies.

Rani recently purchased a flat in Juhu in which she wanted a drawing room with a combined Western-Eastern contemporary feel.

Extremely happy with the results in her bungalow, Rani has now handed over the interiors of her "Janki Kutir" flat to Suzanne again.

Now who would even think of spending crores on interior décor but the queen of Bollywood herself.

Unlike his co-stars in Heyy Babyy, Ritesh Deshmukh is single and obviously doesn’t have any kids. But he was the man with whom little baby Juhaina got along best.

Heyy Babyy , as we already know by now, is a story of three flirtatious men whose lives are altered with the coming of a little baby. Akshay Kumar , Fardeen Khan , Ritesh Deshmukh play the three men and a year-old Juhaina plays the baby.

During the making of the film, director Sajid Khan asked the male stars to spend an hour each with the baby so that she gets used to them.

Surprisingly, it was the bachelor Ritesh Deshmukh who got along best with the baby than Akshay Kumar (who is married and has a son) or Fardeen Khan (who is married and planning a family).

Akshay revealed this during a promotional event of the film.

“To be frank, it was Ritesh who was the best with the baby. Whenever the baby cried, he would take her into his arms and comfort her and the baby would become quiet. With the baby, Ritesh was certainly better than me and Fardeen,” Akshay said.

Ritesh says he loved baby Juhaina so much that he enjoyed every moment he spent with her during the making of the film. And he did not mind being given the task of babysitting.

Mumbai, Aug, 23 (PTI): Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty will play the role of Sita in a movie on Hanuman, her media manager Del Bhagwagar said on Wednesday night.

Shilpa agreed to accept the role after weighing pros and cons, he said.

The film is to be produced by Puru Patel who is talking to Hollywood star Keno Reev of "Matrix" series fame to play the role of Rama, Bhagwagar told Aaj Tak.

The producer is also in talks with some Hollywood actors to play the character of Hanuman, he added.

Bhagwagar said the actress had got 10-11 offers from the UK, 6-7 offers from the US to act in films there but she has so far agreed to act only in the project being undertaken by Patel.

Esha Deol plays the ghost in question, who returns to complete some unfinished business with her cad of a boss who got her pregnant and then refused to leave his wife for her. What’s interesting about Darling is the manner in which director Ram Gopal Varma turns around the cliches you normally associate with ghosts in Hindi films: they’re mysterious, you don’t see them too often, they appear in a fog-like smoke, they don’t speak too much. But the ghost in Darling is a yackety-yack bitter ex who smacks him around, disturbs his love-making session with his wife, sobs in his living room, and calls him a bastard at least fifty times in the film.

The film’s best moments are the ones in which Esha Deol’s ghost shows up at all the wrong times to make Fardeen’s life a living hell. Like the time she shows up under his table while he’s dictating a letter to his secretary. Or the time she shows up in hospital when Fardeen Khan and his wife visit a friend recovering from an accident. Or then the time she shows up in his office when he’s being interrogated by the police.
